Maniaci-Tornari is a long-standing volunteer who has dedicated her life to the service of others and has always been one of the most active people in the Italian community.
Among the many community roles in which she thrives, Maniaci-Tornari is in the executive committee of the Aeolian Islands Association, an organisation which has recently raised funds to finance dementia research.
She is also involved in the Gruppo Dell’Amicizia In Memoria di Enrica Inglese (The Friendship Group in memory of Enrica Inglese), which offers scholarships to students studying the Italian language and culture. It also contributes to the community by awarding research grants.
Recently, the Honourable Stephanie Di Pasqua, representative for Drummoyne in the NSW parliament, took great pleasure in recognising the contributions of Maniaci-Tornari.
Di Pasqua presented her with an award for service to the Drummoyne community.
“Rita is a very deserving recipient and I know that her family and the Italian community are very proud of her,” said Di Pasqua.
“She is to be commended for her commitment to the community and I wish her all the best.”
