Many faithful followers participated in the mass, which was hosted by Father Adriano Pittarello of the Scalabrinian group.

During the homily, Fr Adriano retraced the life of the martyr Saint Sebastian, followed by a welcome address by president of the ceramese organisation Angelo Stivala, who thanked Fr Adriano for officiating the mass, as well as the choir, lead by Maria Testa, the readers, the family who donated the bread, Nuccia Montesano for the flowers and all members of the committee.

Presentation of the awards then took place, which saw four members recognised for their 38 years of distinguished participation in religious, social and cultural aspects of life and activities of the organisation.

Stivala and Fr Adriano awarded Antonio Moscera a certificate of thanks, and awarded Gaetano Gagliano, Sebastiano Initili and Angelo Livolsi ‘members for life’ certificates.

In the square across from the church, the traditional blessing of the bread and oranges occurred, which were then distributed to the faithful, in accordance with the ancient ceramese tradition.

The occasion was concluded in an atmosphere of friendship and brotherhood.
