The home side had just 34 per cent possession but created eight chances to Atalanta’s six.

Udinese had the chance to go ahead after the half-hour mark thanks to a penalty awarded for a mistimed challenge by Atalanta keeper Marco Carnesecchi.

Isaac Success stepped up to the spot and hit the post, leaving the game scoreless.

Udinese did end up taking the lead just before half time when Brazilian midfielder Walace’s shot from distance took a wicked deflection off Berat Djimsiti, leaving Carnesecchi wrongfooted.

Atalanta broke Udinese hearts in the 92nd minute when their own Brazilian, Ederson, headed in a cross from Davide Zappacosta.

Atalanta sit fifth on the table, just one point behind Napoli.
