“I apologise to Alex for the very strong words I used in the after-race interview,” Ducati factory rider Bagnaia told a press conference ahead of this weekend’s San Marino Grand Prix.
“I didn’t mean to say that he intentionally caused me to fall, but that his defence was too aggressive.
“Sometimes anger makes you say things you don’t think.
“He came to our office to apologise.
“It ended there.”
Bagnaia lost the top spot in the standings and dropped 23 points behind leader Jorge Martin last weekend.
