Both teams enjoyed a fair amount of possession while Modena created 12 chances to Bari’s nine.
Bari went close early on through Walid Cheddira, but his shot was tipped onto the post by Riccardo Gagno.
The away side took the lead soon after anyway, thanks to a rocket from Giacomo Ricci from outside the box that went straight into the top-left corner.
Modena came out strong after the break and had a flurry of chances that eventuated to nothing until they were awarded a penalty with less than a quarter of an hour remaining.
Edoardo Duca was nudged in the back by Ricci, who completely undid his fine work earlier.
Davide Diaw calmly slotted it home as Caprile dived the wrong way.
The draw makes second place mathematically impossible for Bari now.
Modena are one point outside the promotion playoffs.
