“Our strategy is to keep going forward but I can’t guarantee that will happen,” Berejiklian said this morning.
“I don’t want to do what other countries have done where they open and shut, open and shut, lockdown and not lockdown.”
Berejiklian defended the state’s strict management of lockdown restrictions.
“We want to make sure every step is a step forward and not a step backwards,” she said.
“It is why are doing things in a particular way to manage extra cases as we ease restrictions.”
Berejiklian urged other states around the country to reconsider their approach to borders and interstate travel.
She also said that while international travel remained a long-term goal, she was in support of a “travel bubble” between New Zealand and Australia.
“I think that would be a very positive move,” she said.
NSW recorded three new cases of coronavirus from 5296 tests conducted over the weekend.
Two of the new cases have been linked to the Newmarch House aged care home cluster and the third is a health care worker at Nepean Blue Mountains local health care district.
The worker from the Nepean Blue Mountains areas did not work while infectious and investigations are underway as to the source of the infection in that individual.
NSW now has a total of 3035 cases of coronavirus.
There are currently 102 patients being treated in hospitals, including 13 people in intensive care units with 11 on ventilators.
