“Berlusconi said 'I am here', he said it very clearly,” Tajani told 'Mezz'ora in più' on Rai3 Sunday, referring to the video message from the 86-year-old leader to a FI convention in Milan on Saturday.

The FI national coordinator said it had been a “thrill” to see Berlusconi who “with great fortitude” delivered a video message from San Raffaele hospital in Milan where he is convalescing after being admitted in early April with a lung infection linked to chronic leukemia.

“Not everyone, after a month in hospital, is ready to resume political battles,” said Tajani.

“Only a great leader, after a month in hospital, has the courage to speak for more than 20 minutes.”

Tajani also said that Forza Italia is climbing in the polls.

“This is because we are serious, credible, reliable and loyal,” he said.

“Forza Italia has a ruling class that is equipped to handle the situation.”
