The recovery confirmed fears that he had died in the disaster, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said via Twitter on Thursday.
Zen, 50, was a consultant engineer specialising in machines for jewel making.
He was originally from Saronno in the province of Varese north of Milan, but was living at Martellago near Venice, according to local media.
Zen was in Turkey for work reasons and had been staying, according to friends, in a Kahramanmaras hotel destroyed by the earthquake.
However, it was not known where he was located at the time of the earthquake and the last contact he'd had with family had been last Sunday (Feb 5).
