The home team took the lead in the 38th minute when Simone Verdi received the ball on the edge of the box before his shot took a deflection that was too much for Venezia keeper Jesse Joronen to handle.

It took just two minutes for Venezia to equalise. Finland international Joel Pohjanpalo headed in a pinpoint cross by Francesco Zampano.

Just as it was looking as though the match was heading for a draw, Patrick Cutrone scored the winner for Como in the 90th minute with an incredible first-time volley on the full after a long ball was sent into the box by Alessio Iovine.

Como are third on the table with 52 points, Venezia are in second on 53.
