From malware to phishing, from ransomware to mailbox compromise, there were 1094 ‘cyber incidents’ handled by the National Cyber Security Agency in 2022.
Of these, 126 were classified as ‘incidents’, i.e., they had an impact confirmed by the victim.
There has been “a marked increase in malicious activity to the detriment of government sectors and critical infrastructures,” the report said.
The phenomenon has ‘sharpened’ with the war in Ukraine, and Italy is “among the countries most affected by the generalised spread of malware and targeted cyber-attacks, especially against the health and energy sectors”.
