Andrews said given the “fragile” situation, no restrictions will be lifted until then, despite other states including NSW relaxing some measures from today.

“We have got to work really hard in these days leading up to May 11 to make sure that we have got options,” he said.

“There are a couple of things that Victorians, I’d ask Victorians to do and keep doing.

“Keep following the rules. Keep staying at home.

“Keep doing the right thing by your family and every Victorian family by following those important rules.”

Victoria confirmed three new cases of coronavirus overnight, taking the state’s total to 1364.

Sixteen patients are being treated in hospital, with seven patients in intensive care.

Andrews warned residents not to become complacent and believe the worst is over.

“We have come too far, we have achieved too much for us to give that back, for us to fritter that hard work away,” he said.

“I know it’s easy to think that with such low case numbers maybe the worst has passed, maybe this is over.

“We saw a spike in numbers a couple of days ago.

“We have had outbreaks in lots of different settings right across Victoria.”

Andrews also urged Victorians to get tested for “mildest symptoms” and says the state has ramped up testing.

“The more tests we can get done in the lead-up to May 11, the more options we will have to potentially ease some of the rules that I know are frustrating.”

Mobile coronavirus testing sites have been set up at Bunnings West Footscray, Pacific Werribee, Pacific Epping, Watergardens Town Centre, Westfield Fountain Gate, Bayside Shopping Centre in Frankston, Chadstone, Doncaster, Highpoint and
Northland.
