Fico is fighting for his life after being repeatedly shot in the abdomen in the central Slovakian town of Handlova.
“I learned with deep shock of the cowardly attack on Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico,” said Meloni.
“All my thoughts are for him, his family and the friendly Slovakian people.
“Also, in the name of the Italian government, I wish to express firm condemnation of all forms of violence and attacks on the key principles of democracy and freedoms.”
