He is at present allegedly receiving hospital treatment in Turin.
Two other French nationals, who were standing near the building at the time of the blast, were taken to the major burn unit of Villa Scarsi hospital in Sampierdarena with multiple injuries, including severe burns to 90 per cent of their bodies.
The explosion, which is thought to have been caused by a gas leak, occurred inside a building in Soldano in the province of Imperia in Liguria.
The men, from Marseilles, were said to be in very serious condition.
It is understood that a birthday party was underway at the building at the time of the explosion.
