The match stats from this game were almost identical, with both sides having 50 per cent of the ball as well as creating ten scoring chances to nine in favour of Brescia.
The home side had the first opportunity with Tom Van de Looi’s bullet from outside the box going straight into the arms of Josep Martinez.
Genoa’s Milan Badelj tried an unlikely volley but it trickled wide.
The away side’s breakthrough goal came during stoppage time of the first half as Eddie Salcedo punished a poor clearance off the goal line by Brescia that went straight to the Genoa striker.
Brescia started the second half brightly, creating a number of chances but they were either straight at Martinez or just off target.
Genoa punished Brescia’s wastefulness in front of goal in the 70th minute when Caleb Ekuban’s through-ball to Albert Gudmundsson sliced open the home side’s defence.
The Icelandic striker’s soft finish seemed to just roll past Brescia keeper Lorenzo Andrenacci into the bottom corner.
The same duo linked up again in the 91st minute when a square pass to Gudmundsson in the box was taken around Andrenacci who, again, should have gotten something on the ball.
Genoa are in second place and are currently on track to guarantee promotion with a five-point gap over third-placed Sudtirol.
