Economic graduate Sandra Hofer is leading a pilot scheme by the autonomous province of Trentino to keep the local Adige River’s sides neat and trim, as well as consolidating its banks with their weight, compacting the earth.
“I studied three years at Bolzano and two at Innsbruck,” she told ANSA.
“I could have worked anywhere in the world after I graduated, but I realised that being stuck in an office all day wasn’t what I wanted.
“Animals have been my passion since I was a little girl.
“So I went back to my roots, I’m a shepherdess and I’m happy.”
