“Citizens over 65 will represent up to 35 per cent of the national population in 2050, and this determines a need to rethink the welfare system,” INPS President Gabriele Fava said.
His comments came at the presentation of the agency’s data on domestic workers.
“The silver economy will increasingly be seen as a great employment opportunity for the country.
“Grandparents are a form of welfare today (via the help they give to their families) but, at the same time, they are also an indicator of what will be needed in the future.”
