The club has made bank this offseason, helped by the sale of André Onana to Manchester United for 52.5 million euros. Onana has been replaced by Yann Sommer, who is a top-quality goalkeeper in his own right, for a miserly 6.8 million.

Meanwhile, they’ll be without Marcelo Brozović and Robin Gosens who have gone to Al-Nassr and Union Berlin respectively.

The most high-profile in is Juan Cuadrado who joins from Juventus on a free transfer.

A signing to watch will be that of French international Marcus Lilian Thuram-Ulien, who scored 34 goals in 11 games for German club Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Il Globo verdict: Definitely a weaker squad than last season, but still have enough quality to finish in the top four and go on a European run.

Prediction: 2nd and quarter-finals of the Champions League.
