He took home gold in the 55 to 59 age category, finishing the race with a time of 1:02:14 (10:08, 30:30 and 17:50 for categories swim, bike and run respectively).
Palmucci beat American Lee Walther by two whole minutes.
Australian Barry Bodsworth came in third.
Palmucci has won more than 185 triathlons in his time.
He has competed in 300 races and stood on many podiums in world-class events all over the world.
Palmucci has been Master Trainer for over a decade at Hotel de Russie, at Rocco Forte Hotels in Rome, where he creates tailor-made training programs for individuals using a mix of cardio intervals, dynamic toning and passive stretching.
Hotel de Russie sponsored Palmucci’s participation in the important international event.
For Palmucci, triathlon is a challenging yet satisfying sport.
“[It] is a sport where you compete against others whilst also discovering yourself, your strengths and weaknesses as an athlete,” he said.
“This sport was one of the first to host athletes with disabilities and has inherently created a harmonious community.”
Palmucci was the only Italian competing in his age category for the event.
