Italian family of 12 sells everything they own to move to Australia

And they weren’t joking.

Here they are, surrounded by their 10 children: Giuseppe, 18; Domenico, 16; Antonio, 14; Francesco, 11; Caterina, 9; Pasquale, 8; Maria, 6; Rosario, 3; Elisabetta, 2; and Michele, 1.

Hailing from Reggio Calabria, the family arrived in Melbourne on the ship Australia.

They then headed to Adelaide, where Michele’s brother, Antonio, lives and runs a farm.

To be able to afford the 2,200,000-lire fare to Australia, the family had to sell everything they owned in Italy.
