Valeria Vitali, 27, graduated in pharmacy from the University of Rome.
The scholarship will allow her to study for a year in Canberra, where she’ll arrive in February.
“It will be an extraordinary experience that will be very useful in my career,” Vitali said from Rome.
Pharmaceutics runs in the Vitali family: her father is a pharmacist and her brother, Giorgio, is a research chemist.
While in Australia, Vitali would like to improve her English skills, see as much of the continent as possible, go to concerts, ski, swim and play tennis.
And as for Australian men?
Vitali said with a smile that she’s heard they’re very “athletic and friendly”.
