SYDNEY – The expo is specifically dedicated to the naval defence and maritime trade industry and is considered the most significant in Australia for military boating and defence systems.
The event is organised by Industry Defence & Security Australia, a not-for-profit division of AMDA-Aerospace Maritime & Defence Foundation of Australia, counts on the support of several Australian governmental entities.
In particular, the Royal Australian Navy, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Industry and the Department of Defence Procurement as well as the NSW government all support the event.
Each edition has an average attendance of more than 20,000 visitors, more than 600 exhibiting companies from various nations and around 200 government and military delegations, mainly from neighbouring countries.
The latest edition was attended by Italian-Australian MP Nicola Carè, together with the Italian Ambassador in Canberra, Paolo Crudele, the Consul General of Italy in Sydney, Andrea De Felip, the President of the Sydney Chamber of Commerce, Fabio Grassia, and the Secretary General Rachele Grassi, accompanied by the ICE Director, Simona Bernardini.
Also present were two official delegations from the Italian Defence and Navy, coordinated by the Italian military attaché in Canberra, Marco Bertoli, with Brigadier General Luca Piperni and Colonel Salvatore Trincone, Deputy Director of the 3rd Department of Industrial Policies and International Relations.
Explaining the significant Italian presence at the event, Mr Carè said, “[We want to] support the Italian presence and encourage match-making between the representatives of the Italian companies present and the visiting foreign delegations.”
