Italy’s Department for Civil Protection issued a yellow (medium risk) alert for Marche, Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Basilicata, Puglia, Calabria and Sicily on Thursday and into Friday.
There was rain in many northern regions at the beginning of the week, while much of the south saw thunderstorms and rain overnight on Wednesday as temperatures began to drop.
Italy enjoyed warm and sunny weather earlier this week, with temperatures reaching around 26˚C, but they’re expected to drop by up to 10˚C across most of Italy as the weekend approaches.
Rain is expected in many parts of the south on Friday and Saturday, as well as more bad weather caused by remnants of the tropical cyclone Lorenzo.
