Chimenti would love to see his compatriot repeat his heroics for Team Europe in Paris in 2018, that saw him become the first European to win five points from five matches.
“Chicco has suffered a drop in form, but now he’s coming back to Europe and I hope he can get a wild card,” Chimenti said at an ANSA Forum.
He also said Italian No.1 Guido Migliozzi was in with a chance to land a place on the team to take on Team USA at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club outside the Italian capital this autumn.
Chimenti added that “this year’s Ryder Cup will be the most important edition ever” and will greatly boost Italian golf.
“It will be a unique spectacle with great knock-on effects,” he said.
