One of the most interesting signings for the bianconeri is American winger Timothy Weah who signed from French side Lille for 11.3 million euros. At the young age of 23, Weah is already an established international with 31 caps for the USA. However, one concern regarding this signing is the lack of goals he tends to score, with Weah having only netted six times in his 89 games for Lille. He’ll need to find the back of the net more often if he’s to be a success in Italy.
Most of the other deals they’ve done in terms of bringing players in revolved around finalising the permanent transfer of players who were already at the club on loan, so don’t expect to see too many new faces in Turin.
Similarly, many sales were of players who had already left the club on loan, like Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski and Genoa’s Radu Dragusin.
Angel Di Maria left on a free transfer to Benfica, while Juan Cuadrado has joined rivals Inter Milan, also for free. That’s a lot of quality walking out the door in just two players.
Il Globo verdict: Not an impressive transfer window so far. No doubt they’ll still compete for a Champions League place, but don’t expect Juventus to seriously challenge for the Serie A title this season. A Conference League run is definitely on the cards, though.
Prediction: 4th-7th and challenging for the Conference League.
