The Avengers went into the game high on confidence, having a 7-1 record against St Albans from their last eight encounters.

It was the home crowd that was celebrating first, however, as St Albans took the lead in the 18th minute.

New Avondale signing Kur Kur scored in the 29th minute to make it 1-1, finishing off a through ball to open his goal account for the club.

The game remained 1-1 at half time, but it didn’t take long into the second half for Avondale FC to take the lead.

Kur Kur won the ball near the halfway line, and a one-two with Trajceski saw Kur Kur’s long-range effort go in to give the Avenger’s the lead.

Avondale FC’s defence stood strong and the Avengers held on for a 2-1 win, a result that has them tied for first with two other clubs.

The Avengers’ next game is away to Melbourne Knights on Friday, February 23 at 7.30 p.m.
