Spanning three decades of love, betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately murder, the film exposes what a name means, what it’s worth, and how far a family will go for control.
In her first role since A Star Is Born, Gaga stars as ‘Black Widow’ Patrizia Reggiani, who served 18 years in jail for organising the murder of her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci, in 1995.
The first trailer gave a wider glimpse into the film’s deliciously over-the-top fashions, accents and drama.
Gaga, who has Sicilian origins, has already won plaudits on social media for mimicking Reggiani’s distinctive accent.
Many of her fans, particularly from English-speaking countries, say she has “nailed it” but for a lot of Italians her accent is “Russian”.
In the movie Gaga stars alongside Adam Driver, who plays her husband, among a stellar Hollywood cast including Al Pacino, Salma Hayek, an almost unrecognisable Jared Leto, and Jeremy Irons.
Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, paid tribute to Italy when she finished filming the movie in May, saying she was “proud to be Italian”.
House of Gucci is set for release in Australia in November, hitting the big screens in Italy in December, possibly launched with a major premier event.
