The home side created 14 shots on goal, exactly double the amount of Lazio.
Lazio captain Ciro Immobile had the visitors ahead in the 26th minute, sliding in to finish Luis Alberto’s delicately placed through ball into the box.
In the second half, Immobile turned provider for Felipe Anderson with a through ball that put him one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but his shot was just wide of the post.
A brilliant piece of tiki-taka football inside Lecce’s box resulted in a shot from Immobile, but the outstretched leg of goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone deflected the ball onto the crossbar.
With five minutes remaining, Lecce equalised through Pontus Almqvist. The swede received the ball centrally on the edge of the box, took a touch and blasted his shot past a diving Ivan Provedel.
Not even two minutes later and Lecce were ahead when Lazio failed to deal with a bouncing ball in the box. Substitute Federico Di Francesco was the quickest to react and sent the ball into the bottom-left corner through a sea of legs.
