Cono La Veglia, a 23-year-old barista, left Lagonegro on September 23 and arrived Sunday outside the Basilica of St. Francis, patron saint of animals, holding the reins of his beloved horse, Jay.
He got Church officials to bless Jay, who is affected by double glaucoma, and is hoping for the best.
