Showing at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre from June 29 to July 2, the critically acclaimed homage to the British author premiered in 2015 and went on to earn Mr McGregor the Critics’ Circle Award for Best Classical Choreography and the Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production.
Each of the three acts draws inspiration from one of Woolf’s iconic novels - Mrs Dalloway, Orlando and The Waves – interwoven with elements from the revolutionary author’s letters, essays and diaries.
A former Principal Artist at The Royal Ballet in London, Ms Galeazzi recently returned to Australia to perform with the Melbourne Ballet Company in March.
Born in Chiari in the northern Italian region of Lombardy, Mara has been immersed in the world of ballet since her childhood and began training at Milan’s revered La Scala from the age of 10.
In 1992, Ms Galeazzi joined The Royal Ballet at 18 years of age, and skyrocketed to international stardom in the following years.
Having resided in Oman with her family since her retirement, Ms Galeazzi often returns to Australia to share with us her enduring passion and talent.
Accompanied by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Woolf Works promises to be a compelling production rich with history and contemporary talent.
