Not counting 2.5 million undecided, there will be at least eight million Easter holidaymakers, 60 per cent of whom will spend two nights away from home, but one in ten will also 'stretch' for the whole week, the poll showed.
Destinations will be within their own region for one out of two holidayers, while, of the remaining half, 80 per cent of them will travel elsewhere but still in Italy and 20 per cent to foreign countries.
Seaside resorts are the most popular (22 per cent) followed by cities of art and villages (together 28 per cent) for a total expenditure of around four billion euros.
