After making its way through Shanghai, Chicago, Phoenix, Berlin, Vienna and many other cities around the world, ‘Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition’ arrived in Melbourne on January 22 and will run until March 20.
The unique exhibition invites viewers to experience the ceiling paintings from the Sistine Chapel from an up-close, life-size and never-before-seen perspective.
With special expertise and care, Michelangelo’s 34 frescoes – including The Creation of Adam and the large-scale Last Judgment from the chapel’s altar wall – were reproduced using licensed high-definition photos and brought to life with a special printing technique that emulates the look and feel of the original paintings, down to the tiniest brushstroke.
Each image is accompanied by informative signage, and audio guides are available to rent for an even more in-depth experience.
Whether they have already been to the Sistine Chapel or not, visitors can now admire the artwork up close, at their own pace, and with the ability to capture photographic memories of this iconic work.
