In what is extraordinarily unusual for Italian clubs, Monza have not made a single euro from outgoing players yet have spent 41 million.

However, none of the money they’ve spent will result in a single player making their Monza debut. Instead, they’ve just purchased all of last year’s loanees, such as Matteo Pessina, Gianluca Caprari, Andrea Patagna, Pablo Mari and Armando Izzo.

This isn’t bad, Monza did well last season and keeping the core of their squad was imperative.

They’ve also gotten some excellent players for free, like Danilo D’Ambrosio and Roberto Gagliardini from Inter.

The most notable outs are Christian Gytkjaer who went to Venezia on a free transfer after playing 82 games for the club, and Carlos Augusto who has been loaned to Inter Milan with a conditional obligation to buy.

Il Globo verdict: Not a very exciting transfer window, but they did what they had to which was keep players before adding some experience. They’ll be fine.

Prediction: 10th-14th.
