Those in attendance included teachers, principals, parents and students from schools that teach Italian.

Organised by CO.AS.IT. teachers, the performance was presented by the popular Mrs Baldi.

Each school contributed to the event’s success, with students presenting sketches, songs, farces and dance routines with great enthusiasm.

Parents are to be commended for the costumes they made, which were of an exceptional standard.

Students also participated in a quiz in Italian, demonstrating the high level of teaching at CO.AS.IT. schools.

Before the prizes were awarded, Mrs Vaccari, the president of CO.AS.IT., thanked teachers and parents for contributing to the success of teaching Italian at a primary school level.

She also encouraged them to continue promoting Italian language and culture.

Representing the Consul General of Italy, Mr Tossi praised the perseverance and enthusiasm with which Italian classes are conducted, while emphasising the importance of Italian language and culture in Australia.

Special guests included Mr Porciani, director of education at the Italian Consulate.

At the end of the event, three gifts were raffled off, the first of which was not claimed.

The owner of the yellow ticket, no. 71, is invited to contact CO.AS.IT. on 347 3555 to collect their prize.
