Speaking this morning ahead of Friday’s National Cabinet meeting where Prime Minister Scott Morrison is expected to announce the relaxation of some measures, Berejikilian said they won’t be happening in NSW.
“Without wanting to be the bearer of bad news, can I say that whilst National Cabinet is considering easing some restrictions from Friday, I doubt very much that NSW will be in a position to implement anything before Mother’s Day,” she said.
“I just wanted to make that clear.
“But having said that, please know that two adults and children can visit any mother at any one time and a mother can accept multiple visits a day, so long as there’s not too many people for each visit.”
The premier added that by the end of June, we should see some return to normality.
“As we proceed through May and through June, there will be an easing of restrictions and that’s something all of us can look forward to,” she said.
“I suspect by the end of June, life will feel much more normal than it does now and even during May, life will feel much more normal.”
It comes as NSW registers a record number of tests conducted, with just over 10,900 carried out on Wednesday.
Three new cases of the virus were recorded, all with known sources.
Two of the cases were staff members at Anglicare’s Newmarch House, the aged care facility at the centre of Australia’s second-deadliest cluster.
The total number of cases in the state since the start of the outbreak is at 3044, after one case was excluded overnight.
The state’s death toll stands at 44.
