From midnight on Friday, Queenslanders will be able to travel 50 kilometres from home to visit parks, have a picnic and jet ski, while shopping for non-essential items is also permitted.
Members of the same household will also be able to gather outside and singles can catch up with one friend only, but strict social distancing rules will still apply.
Premier Annastacia Palaszcuk said the easing of stay-at-home restrictions would start at midnight on Friday.
However, the premier has warned that movement was “limited to members of your own household”.
“We will be able to lift some of the stay-at-home restrictions and ... we really need the public to 100 per cent co-operate,” she said.
“If we do see mass gatherings, I will not hesitate to clamp back down.”
The premier said the 50-kilometre limit was to avoid large scale movements of people between places like “Cairns to Townsville” and borders would remain closed.
Beaches across the state have also begun reopening.
The Spit, which was abruptly closed on April 7 after dozens of people were photographed flouting social distancing rules, will reopen from midnight tonight.
It comes a week after the reopening of Surfers Paradise, Coolangatta and part of the Spit.
Just three Queenslanders have been diagnosed with coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the state’s total to 1033.
Meanwhile in Western Australia, the two-person limit has been relaxed from today to allow up to 10 people to gather indoors and outdoors.
Picnics, boating, hiking, camping and group exercise are also allowed, but playgrounds and outdoor gym equipment remain off limits.
Premier Mark McGowan said while Western Australia was still in a state of emergency, low numbers of confirmed cases meant a “cautious relaxation” of restrictions was possible.
“Our numbers may be low but we need to keep it that way,” he said.
It comes as Western Australia recorded no new cases of coronavirus overnight.
The state has confirmed a total of 549 coronavirus cases, but only 55 remain active.
Victoria has confirmed it won’t be following suit, with the government announcing restrictions will stay in place until at least May 11 when the state of emergency ends.
