On Thursday, November 25 - the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women - the ICI will present the video created by Persenico, which is titled ‘November 25, 2021’.

The short film follows male and female characters tackling complex themes of power, sex, violence and freedom.

The result is a sort of dialogue between men and women, set in a space that is reminiscent of the rooms of a house.

Persenico studied at the New Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and then went on to specialise in contemporary tapestry at the Scuola del Castello Sforzesco di Milano.

She then took courses from acclaimed sculptor Gabriela Spector in Mendrisio and from master ceramist Tino Gassa in Castiglione Olona.

Over the years, much of Persenico’s art has been focused on interpretations of violence against women and child abuse, along with the concept of the house and the body, with her work displayed in private galleries and public spaces across Europe.

‘November 25, 2021’ will be published for 24 hours on the ICI’s social media to coincide with the day of awareness.

The short film will also be available to view on the ICI’s YouTube channel until December 2.

The day will also be marked by an address from Associate Professor Giorgia Alù, from the University of Sydney.
