Researcher lauded for electronic nose that sniffs out cancer
Manuela Costantini, a young medical researcher in the urology department of the Regina Elena National Tumours Institute (IRE), designed an electronic nose capable of making early diagnoses of urological tumours.

She has received a special mention at the 13th edition of the prestigious “Taobuk Festival SeeSicily” at Taormina.
The results of Costantini’s research were recently published in the journals Cancers and Biosensor Basel.
The ‘e-Nose’ is able to identify olfactory molecular traces that are specific to different types of urological tumours.
