Verdini had his house arrest revoked by a Florence surveillance court on Tuesday.
The imprisoned former senator is also the father of Salvini’s partner, Francesca.
Salvini is understood to have visited the penitentiary and then met with Verdini in the interview room.
Verdini was ordered back into prison custody after evading house arrest at a villa near Florence to attend three dinners in Rome.
From what has been learnt, at the moment Verdini is serving a six-year sentence for the fraudulent bankruptcy of Credito Cooperativo Fiorentino.
