Despite the low score, there were plenty of opportunities with SPAL creating 14 and Parma creating 11.

The visitors started brightly with Franco Vasquez shooting from just outside the box.

He struck it well, but it was straight at Pomini in goals.

SPAL almost profited off a goalkeeping error, but Leandro Chichizola recovered in time to block the shot from Gabriele Moncini.

Parma scored the winner from a penalty that was awarded for a clumsy challenge by Biagio Meccariello on Drissa Camara.

Vasquez took the spot kick in the 75th minute and put it in the top-left corner as Pomini went the wrong way.

Parma are guaranteed playoff football regardless of what happens on matchday 38, while SPAL will be in Serie C next season.
