Every year, at the end of the second term, students of the Western Australian primary school dedicate seven days to discovering the traditions of the Belpaese.

It’s an immersive experience in the culture of the tricolore.

The event also celebrates the enormous success of the linguistic and cultural program which has been initiated by Italian teacher Natascia Morlotti.

During the week, students were involved in many typically Italian activities, accompanied and guided by the help of teachers, parents and grandparents.

All participants enjoyed the cooking lessons, where they had the possibility to knead dough and make biscotti, gnocchi, pizza, bruschette and panini.

Thanks to the collaboration of around 80 volunteers and to the grand participation of the community, the school demonstrated that Italian Week is to be enjoyed and shared by all, and is a moment of reflection and fun for young and old.

Besides the cooking lessons, students and others participated in a bocce competition and soccer game, and learned to play card games.

Everyone had a great time.

Here are some of the testimonies of the students:

“I really liked Italian Week,” Caitlin recounts.

“I love Italian!

“I had fun and the pizza that we prepared was delicious!

“I hope to continue Italian in high school.”

“It was fantastic,” Max says.

“I prepared many yummy foods with my family and friends.”

“Italian Week was full of joy and laughter,” Chloe adds.

“It was also full of smells and great food.

“I like cooking, it was great.
