Premier Peter Gutwein confirmed the woman, who was from the state’s north-west, died yesterday, taking the national toll to 91.
“I extend my deepest sympathies to her loved ones, family and friends at this very hard time,” he said this morning.
It comes as the Tasmanian government releases an interim report on the outbreak at the state’s North West Regional Hospital.
Gutwein said the outbreak most likely can be traced back to the ill-fated Ruby Princess cruise ship.
“I do want to say that what this report will demonstrate very clearly is that most likely the Ruby Princess is the root cause of our problems on the north-west coast,” he said.
“In terms of how this highly infectious disease has then been spread, to be frank it is something that we will never know.
“What we do know is that healthcare workers caught this, healthcare workers who would have been doing their very best to serve Tasmanians and to look after their patients and, as a result of that spread we have had the north-west cluster.”
Eleven people have died from coronavirus in the north-west.
Tasmania recorded just one new case of the virus overnight.
Of the state’s 219 cases ,146 have occurred in the north-west.
