The Father’s Day luncheon organised by the senior society of Club Marconi was a huge success, as nearly 150 people gathered in the cozy and elegant Sala Michelini to celebrate the special day.
The event commenced with words from the president of the senior society, Giovanna Pellegrino, who welcomed the loyal members of the senior society and all those who consistently support the initiatives of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Pellegrino announced to everyone that the club’s director, Gaetano Zangari, had donated $840 to the senior society.
Zangari personally raised the funds during Club Marconi’s joint ‘Sleeping in the Club’ initiative with The St Vincent de Paul Society.
Instead of naming the youngest and oldest father as done in the past, the president and her committee instead honoured the well-known and talented photographer Carlos Alvarez as ‘Father of the Luncheon’.
Along with his wife Gloria, Alvarez regular attends the events organised by the senior society and the Ladies Auxiliary.
The Father’s Day meal was, as expected, excellent. It featured appetisers, pizza, ossobuco, profiteroles and coffee, all prepared by the club’s chefs.
During the celebration, Francesca Scarfone skilfully marked her birthday without revealing her age as Matteo Biviano, the general manager of Club Marconi, was also present.
Towards the end of the event, the traditional lottery took place, bringing big grins to the faces of the five lucky winners.
The live music by the duo consisting of George Vumbacca and Liz Testa created a warm and vibrant atmosphere, making the luncheon a day of true camaraderie and affection.
