The Australian capital’s most recent new case was confirmed last Monday, but the patient has since recovered and been released from self-isolation.

Three people have died from coronavirus in the territory, with a total of 107 confirmed cases.

The ACT government eased restrictions on Friday, allowing gatherings in homes and outdoors of up to 10 people.

But ACT Chief Health Officer Dr Kerryn Coleman today urged the community to continue practising social distancing.

“It is vitally important that we continue to maintain the 1.5-metre physical distancing from other people at all times while we are out in public,” Dr Coleman said.

“It was a shame to hear that some people visiting reopened shops or while getting takeaway coffee over the weekend were not complying to the requirements.

“The pandemic is not over and it only takes one mistake or lapse in concentration to put our community’s most vulnerable at risk.”

It comes as the government consults with industry groups about whether Canberra’s restaurants and cafes might soon be able to reopen.

An announcement about when restrictions will be further relaxed is expected later this week.
