The initiative was made possible thanks to the signing of a Memorandum in the first half of 2019 between Marcellin College in Bulleen, the Convitto Nazionale in the Sardinian capital and the Centro Europeo Diffusione Informazione Sardegna Estero (CEDISE).

Between July and August 2019, Convitto Nazionale student Alessandro Corda visited Melbourne for six weeks, attending school at Marcellin College.

The Sardinian student was hosted by the family of his peer Matthew Broggian who, in turn, travelled to Cagliari from November 26 to December 10.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the SCA, the two students had the chance to visit the capital cities of Canberra and Rome during their exchange.

“The SCA has spent around two years developing this project,” the association’s president, Paolo Lostia, said.

Lostia added that he was very happy to collaborate with Marcellin College once again, highlighting the strong relationship between the organisation and the school in the past.

This new initiative demonstrates the SCA’s important role in the promotion of Sardinian culture and traditions and bilateral relations between Italy and Australia.

Both Marcellin College and the Convitto Nazionale agree on the importance of the exchange program in immersing students in both the language and social fabric of each country.

Both schools are considering increasing the number of students involved in future editions of the initiative.
