Modena managed only one shot on target for the entire match, while Venezia had nine (plus ten off target).

The opening half hour was littered with chances for Venezia, but they wouldn’t hit the scoreboard until the 32nd minute when man of the hour Pohjanpalo got on the end of a low cross from Antonio Candela before guiding it inside the back post.

Venezia made it 2-0 nine minutes after the break when Dennis Johnsen was one-on-one with Gagno but decided to pass it to his right and allow Pohjanpalo to finish into an empty net from three yards out.

The Fin sealed his hattrick in the 72nd minute by chipping the keeper after Tanner Tessmann found him completely unmarked in the box.

Pohjanpalo racked up a remarkable four goals when he slotted a penalty straight down the middle after Modena was punished for a handball against Antonio Pergreffi.

Three minutes after that Venezia had five when Francesco Zampano made space for himself in the box and shot near post, beating a surely miserable Gagno.

Despite the heavy deafeat, Modena find themselves just two points outside the playoffs.
