SLC CGIL (Communication Workers Union) further accused the 81-year-old Domingo of a “mediocre” performance when conducting Turandot the following night.
“In Turandot,” the CGIL wrote to Arena Foundation, “all the orchestra players felt abandoned, left to their own devices, all risking, on more than one occasion, falling flat on their faces.”
“At the end there was a protest from the orchestra which, aware of the mediocrity of the show, refused to stand up at the gesture of the conductor”.
Spaniard Domingo, who faces multiple sexual harassment allegations from former female colleagues dating back to 2019, is one of the world's greatest tenors and was part of the Three Tenors with countryman José Carreras and the late Italian superstar tenor Luciano Pavarotti.
