“Victorians love turning out for big events and while they can’t do that currently, this support will go a long way to making sure our tourism, sport and racing bodies can rebound quickly as restrictions are lifted,” Pakula said this morning.
The Experience Economy Survival Package includes $40 million for community sport and recreation bodies, including state and sporting associations, leagues and clubs.
Another $16 million will go to national sporting organisations, and $5.3 million will support the State Sport Centres Trust and Kardinia Park Stadium Trust.
Meanwhile, $44 million will help fund the racing industry.
The package includes $32 million for creative agencies including the Geelong Arts Centre, National Gallery of Victoria, Arts Centre Melbourne and Melbourne Recital Centre.
Another $6 million will go to live music workers through the Sustaining Creative Workers Initiative, and $11 million will be put towards the tourism industry.
