He once had a store on Sydney Road, in Brunswick, which was a vibrant hub for those with a passion for music and videos.

After going on an experimental hiatus, in which he worked in other fields and on other continents, Virgilio has returned home to do what he loves most and what connects him to the community.

On June 12, he opened the doors of his new music shop at 798 Nicholson Street, Fitzroy North.

Many musicians and singers attended the store’s inauguration and complimented Virgilio on his return to the music scene, saying he has filled the void which had grown in recent years.

Aside from selling musical instruments of all kinds – from the saxophone to the guitar – Virgilio’s new store is also a “music academy” for young people wanting to pursue a career in the industry.

Virgilio is a prominent member of the Italian community, and is acclaimed for his theatre productions including Barba e Capelli, Le corna di Don Ferdinando and La legge è uguale per tutti.

He has also organised spectacular living nativity scenes at the Puglia Club, of which he was once president, and at St Brigid’s Catholic Church, which have been covered widely in the media.

All going well, Virgilio is expected to create another magical living nativity scene at the Assisi Centre in Rosanna this Christmas.

We wish him all the best!

Virgilio is also working hard on the Festival Internazionale della Canzone Italiana, a showcase of the talent of young Italo-Australian artists.

This year’s festival will take place on Saturday, October 12, at Dallas Brooks Hall.
