His comments came in a video message to the Conference of Ambassadors at the foreign ministry in Rome.

“It is a pleasure for me to speak at the 2023 Ambassadors’ Conference,” said Blinken.

“My special thanks go to [Foreign] Minister Tajani, my friend Antonio, for inviting me to speak, and above all, to Italy for being at our side at this crucial time for our countries and for the world.”

“We will work together with the Italian presidency of the G7 on an agenda of concrete commitments that will deliver benefits at the international level.

“Together we will continue to support Ukraine to defend itself from the Russian war of aggression and make sure that Ukraine has what it needs to get back on its feet militarily, economically and democratically.

“We will continue to work towards a solution to the conflict in the Middle East,” concluded Blinken.
