A Passeggio Per Sydney - A Walking Tour with Bianca Bonino

The tour, lasting about one hour and a half hours, will stop at some buildings and monuments located in the Sydney CBD linked to the contribution of Italian artists, architects and engineers. It will start from the Pitt Street Mall (corner of King Street) and will proceed to visit the MLC Tower, designed by Harry Seidler with the contribution of Italian architect Pier Luigi Nervi (collaboration that is also found in the Australia Square skyscraper). The walk will continue towards the famous “Porcellino” in front of the Sydney Hospital, an exact replica of the same statue by Pietro Tacca, located in Florence, then proceed to the Arthur Phillip Memorial inside the Royal Botanic Gardens, created by Achille Simonetti. The group will then move on to visit Aurora Place, the result of the genius of Renzo Piano, to end at the General Post Office in Martin Place, whose controversial bas-reliefs were crafted by Italian sculptor Tomaso Sani. At the end of the walk the participants will be able to continue the conversation and exchange their impressions and opinions in a café located in the city. Bianca Bonino is an actress, a stage director, a Commedia dell’Arte trainer, a tour guide and, occasionally, an event producer. In 2006 she discovered an interest in Commedia dell’Arte, a traditional Italian comic theatre played with masks, and ever since she supervised and directed all the productions of the theatre group she founded called Fools In Progress Theatre Co. Bianca collaborates regularly with Sydney-based cultural associations such as Dante Alighieri Society and FILEF, producing poetry readings in Italian and cultural events. A few years ago she took up a new challenge accepting her first assignment as a tour guide. Ever since her passion for this profession, that has so many similarities with acting, grew exponentially on her to the point that this has now become her main occupation.
